AMD Adrenalin Driver 24.9.1 Released with Support for AFMF 2
AMD’s New Features: AFMF 2 and Adrenalin Driver 24.9.1
In July 2024, AMD launched a beta version of its Fluid Motion Frames technology, called AFMF 2. Alongside this release, the company introduced the AMD Adrenalin Driver 24.9.1, which now officially supports this final version, exciting gamers everywhere!
What Changes with AFMF 2?
AFMF 2 addresses a significant issue that many users faced with the first version: Frame Generation would turn off during rapid movements. This was a considerable drawback for many players. With AFMF 2, AMD claims to have optimized performance for fast-paced motion, ensuring smoother gameplay with more consistent frames per second (FPS), even in action-heavy scenes. The best part? You can activate AFMF 2 in nearly any game that utilizes OpenGL, Vulkan, DirectX 11, or DirectX 12. This is a major advancement, especially since many PC games lack support for DLSS 3 and FSR 3.0.
Additional Features
AMD has introduced new functionalities in AFMF 2, including:
Search Mode
This mode enhances game smoothness by optimizing how the "fallback" technology operates. The "fallback" activates when AFMF Frame Generation temporarily shuts off in quick scenes to maintain image quality. This improvement results in a more fluid gaming experience.
Performance Mode
There are three settings within this mode: Auto, Quality, and Performance. The “Quality” setting remains the same as AFMF 1, but the new “Performance” mode reduces the burden of AFMF 2, making it easier for players on lower-end devices to achieve higher frame rates.
Updated Driver
The new driver also incorporates all enhancements from version 24.20.11.01, meaning your gaming experience in titles like God of War: Ragnarok, Final Fantasy 16, and Frostpunk 2 will only improve. You can download this latest driver directly from the AMD official website.
Supported Games
Here are some of the games now supported by AFMF 2:
- Frostpunk 2
- God of War Ragnarök
- Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
- The Sims™ 4 (DirectX® 11 Update)
Key Features of AFMF 2
- Latency Reduction and Enhanced Performance: AFMF 2 reduces latency in frame generation and improves performance with new modes.
- Optimization for Quick Movements: Enjoy smoother gameplay with higher FPS during action scenes.
- Expanded Borderless-Fullscreen Support: Compatible with nearly all games in fullscreen without borders.
- Support for Multiple APIs: More games can now utilize AFMF 2.
- Interoperability with Radeon Chill: Offers a low-latency FPS cap option.
Expanded Support and Improvements
AMD has added support for Radeon™ Anti-Lag 2 in Counter-Strike 2, further reducing input lag on RDNA™ architecture graphics products. General enhancements in image quality and performance have also been made, ensuring you receive the best gaming experience possible.
Fixed Issues
This update fixes various bugs that caused crashes or dark images in certain games. If you faced such problems before, you might find them resolved now!
