Ai shed light on the struggles she faced. She revealed that Comic Smart and the editorial team at GANMA had owed her royalties for almost six years. However, it seems that the department has officially apologized, and she is now thrilled with the outcome!

“This is an announcement about the fact that Comic Smart and the GANMA editorial department hadn’t paid me anime royalties for about six years. In the end, the editorial department officially apologized. I’m happy to finally tell all my fans to check out the anime on various platforms.”
What Does This Mean?
Ai explained in her blog that between 2018 and July 2024, she didn’t receive any payments from sales related to Million Doll, which includes everything from DVDs and CDs to streaming platform revenues. It’s a pretty tough situation!
What Were Her Thoughts?
Before this issue was resolved, Ai even considered blocking the creation of derivative works due to the lack of payment. Imagine that! But fortunately, everything has worked out, and she can finally breathe easy. She mentioned: “It’s been about nine years since it was made, so it may be a bit late, but I would like to promote [the anime series] again.”

Just to remind you, the anime adaptation was produced by Asahi Production and directed by Keiichirou Kawaguchi (known for works like Hayate no Gotoku!, Jinsei, Mayo Chiki!).
